This weekend on AMC is the debut of Alexander, and to mark this occasion BEER.COM presents EPIC WEEK. All this week I'll be taking a look at some great Epic flicks.
Sometimes epic films can span continents, countries, worlds, and galaxies, but sometime epics can take place at home, in a single (relative) location.
Today we're looking at Scotland, and the epic battle for the 13th century inhabitants to have the right to free themselves from English rule.
We're taking a look at the 1995 Epic Braveheart. Directed by and starring Mel Gibson, Braveheart is the stirringly heroic tale of William Wallace, a man whose life is taken from him - his family, his land - by his English oppressors.
Rallying the Scots to his cause, Wallace leads the charge against scores upon scores of English soldiers who view the Scots as nothing more than barbarians but they couldn't be more wrong.
After his new bride is executed before his eyes, Wallace rallies his friends and country men to raid an English fort - slaughtering the men inside. This garners the attention of the King of England, who dispatches his armies to stop this seemingly invincible man.

Braveheart is ultimately a tale of murder, betrayal, and tragedy on an Epic Scale.
Featuring MASSIVE battles, and the battle for one man's pride and freedom, containing one of the greatest speeches ever given by a character - it's a recipe for a classic Epic.
