Metallica Tops Billboard Charts
Metallica has done it again! Though, it shouldn’t be a huge surprise. The band’s ninth studio album “Death Magnetic” has topped the Billboard 200 for a second consecutive week. According to Nielsen Soundscan, the album sold 337,000 copies in the US and debuted with an impressive 490,000 last week within three days of their Friday, September 12th release. This brings the album’s total sales in the United States to 827,000 copies.
Along with 1991’s “Black Album”, 1996’s “Load”, 1997’s “Reload” and finally 2003’s “St.Anger”, the release of “Death Magnetic” marks the fifth album from Metallica to debut at Number 1 on the Billboard charts. There is a good chance that they are the first band in history to do that.
The album also beat out competitors such as Ne-Yo and Nelly, who debuted at number two and three. Now that is impressive!
Metallica has also been nominated to inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. Rock on!
