Let's make a deal. Boston and Manny both losers in deadline deal.

Man Rammed

July went out with a bang when a deal sending Manny Ramirez to the Los Angeles Dodgers was finalized. It’s kind of a funny trade because it really doesn’t seem like it did anything to help Manny Ramirez or the Boston Red Sox, who had to pay the rest of his salary. It wasn’t a secret that Manny was unhappy in Boston, nor was it a surprise that he got traded; however, if you’re Manny or the Red Sox how pissed off are you that things came to this.

Sure if you’re Boston you ended up getting Jason Bay from the Pittsburgh Pirates in the three-way deal, but is Jason Bay really an adequate replacement for Manny Ramirez? I don’t think so! Sure Manny has moments when it is very evident that he could care less about playing well but at the end of the day he is an elite player and Jason bay is a good player. The clubhouse may house a better environment but what is more important, everyone getting along or winning a championship? A championship? That’s what I thought.

If you’re Manny Ramirez this is such a raw deal. There would be steam shooting out of my ears if I was traded to the Dodgers. Sure, they are only two games behind Arizona in their division… too bad it’s the weakest division in the MLB. Even if the Dodgers get hot and win their division, the chance of them making any big noise in the playoffs or contending for a championship is about as good as me getting the chance to have a threesome with Megan Fox and Katy Perry.

Making a trade for the sake of making a trade never works out. The Red Sox have a sub par replacement for Ramirez, the Dodgers got better but not good enough and the Pirates got a handful of scrubs. The only interesting part about this trade is that Ramirez will now be playing for Joe Torre. Can the formal rivals get along?

Old Man Brett

If you aren’t aware of what’s going on with Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers then you must be a fan of sports like badminton and croquet and not own a TV, radio, get the newspaper or have the internet (though I’m not sure how you would be reading this then). I’m not going to get in to the whole situation, but I do want to offer up a quick take on what I think should happen.

Brett Favre needs to get over him self. I know all the diehard Cheeseheads love Brett but it is time for this guy to hang them up. Not to take anything away from what he did on the field, because he was a great player, but this guy is so selfish. The NFL and the world don’t revolve around Brett Favre and it’s time for everyone to move on. Don’t reinstate him, don’t give him money to stay retired, don’t trade him to another team; just politely tell Brett Favre to *%$# off.
